Authorities are working to find the perpetrators.” Vice President Oktay added that of the 81 wounded two are in serious condition and that the bombing appeared to be a terrorist attack. According to Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu a suspect has been arrested, a woman who sat in the area of the blast for 40 minutes.
Israeli authorities have inquired if any Israelis were among the wounded victims. The blast occurred near a restaurant known as a popular venue for Israelis. One Israeli woman, Ofra Adi, sat a mere 2 meters (6.5 feet) from the alleged terrorist. She said, “I was sitting outside and suddenly heard an explosion. I didn’t realize what was happening as there was dust and smoke everywhere. I then saw three people laying on the sidewalk. I only realized it was a terrorist attack afterward.” Israeli tourists have been advised to remain in their hotels. President Hertzog and Prime Minister Yair Lapid have sent condolences to Turkey following the horrific attack.
Please pray for the authorities as they restore the affected area, for the families of those killed and wounded in the attack.
