Israel Prepares “Powerful Response” to Hezbollah Attacks
Amid an increase in attacks from Hezbollah terrorists in Lebanon, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared Israel has planned an “extremely powerful” response. Hezbollah has carried out near-daily attacks on Israel since October 8, 2023, the day after Hamas’s massacre in southern Israel. Hezbollah’s routine rocket and anti-tank missile attacks have displaced about 60,000 residents along Israel’s northern borders. The government has permitted the IDF to call up an additional 50,000 reservists if needed.
Hezbollah’s attacks on Israel have been a slowly bubbling cauldron of tension since October that appears primed to break loose soon. While Israel has made great progress in subduing Hamas over these months, its war with these terrorists is not over, so adding an expanded front in the north would stretch thin Israel’s already taxed military defense. Fortunately, Israel prepares for these kinds of threats effectively, so Netanyahu’s announcement of a strong response is reassuring.
