FBI Investigating Leak of Israel’s Plans
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced it “is investigating the alleged leak of classified documents” pertaining to Israel’s planned response to Iran’s missile attack on Israel on October 1. According to U.S. officials, “the breach most likely came from a government insider and not from a cyber intrusion.”
President Joe Biden is “deeply concerned” and “will be actively monitoring the progress of the investigative effort,” according to National Security Council spokesman John Kirby. Former president and current Republican candidate Donald Trump said, “They leaked all the information about the way that Israel’s going to fight and how they are going to fight and where they are going to go. Who did that? Can you imagine somebody doing that? That’s the enemy. I guess that maybe is the enemy from within.”
While the United States remains a committed ally of Israel, popular support for the Jewish state is far from unanimous in this nation. Many government officials would like little more than to see Israel fail or even be destroyed, so a U.S. politician secretly sabotaging Israel is not far-fetched. Hopefully this probe will uncover an enemy of Israel that can be rendered ineffective, helping the United States better defend the Jewish nation in its battle against terrorism.
