Israel at War: Week 64
As 2025 begins, Israel enters a second year of its struggle for survival in the multi-front war. At the forefront is Iran, followed by its proxies Hamas in Gaza, Hezbollah in Lebanon, and the Houthis in Yemen.
The conflict has taken its toll on the nation economically and emotionally. Since October 7, 2023, 1,808 Israelis have died, 5,541 soldiers have been wounded in battle, with 216 soldiers still hospitalized, and 100 hostages remaining in captivity. Yet the resolve of both the military and the civilian population remains strong. They want to achieve victory.
This morning I read a wonderful reminder from Isaiah 66 that God will destroy His enemies. Throughout this war, the promise to Abram in Genesis 12:3 has resonated in the hearts and minds of Israel’s supporters, both Christian and Jewish, “I will bless those who bless you and I will curse those who curse you.” God and not man will have the final say. As our Jewish friends say, “Am Yisrael Chai!” The People of Israel Live! “And let us say, “Amen!”
Happy New Year to each of you!
