Hezbollah Strike In Shomera Set Vehicle Ablaze Underscoring Ongoing Ceasefire Violations
A Hezbollah strike In Shomera Thursday morning (30th) set a vehicle ablaze. There were sirens across 15 northern communities with the strike hitting Shomera, highlighting continued ceasefire violations as students traveled to school.
An interceptor was launched shortly before 8 a.m. Thursday (30th) at a suspected aerial target identified in an area where Israeli forces are operating in southern Lebanon, the IDF said, adding that the results of the interception were still under review.
Footage from the scene showed the interceptor in the sky as a bus carrying students traveled during morning school runs.
At 6:20 a.m., sirens sounded at 15 communities along Israel’s northern border amid concerns of a drone incursion. Shortly afterwards a powerful explosion was heard following a direct strike in the area of Shomera, near the Lebanese border. A vehicle caught fire, and smoke was seen rising from the scene. No injuries were reported.
Shimon Guetta, head of the Ma’ale Yosef Regional Council in northern Israel told Ynet that it was “a difficult morning” following launches toward the Western Galilee and the impact in Shomera, a community within the council.
“I was in another community and rushed toward the school to check on the children,” he said. “I saw them trembling.”
Guetta added that four days earlier, a strike landed about 30 meters from a school in the council. “It cannot continue like this. There aren’t even 50% of the students in school,” he said. “This is not a ceasefire — it’s fire without a pause.”
The incidents came as fire continued despite a ceasefire, once again, during the morning hours as students were on their way to school.
68-Vessel Flotilla Headed For Gaza As Netanyahu Convened Emergency Security Talks
A flotilla of 68 boats and Yachts is making its way from Sicily toward the shores of the Gaza Strip, prompting an urgent security discussion on Wednesday (29th) led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Israel Katz.
The flotilla, which departed Monday (27th), comprises – according to its organizers – 68 vessels and approximately 1,000 activists from dozens of different organizations. The organizers say the convoy is carrying humanitarian aid to residents of Gaza and that they hope the large number of vessels will result in “breaking Israel’s blockade” for at least some of the boats, in a way that will”raise awareness of the hunger and blockade in the Gaza Strip.
Defense Minister Israel Katz imposed sanctions on a fundraising campaign for the flotilla, known as the Global Sumud Flotilla the Second Mission, which Israel says is organized by the Hamas terrorist organization in collaboration with additional international organizations under the guise of a humanitarian aid convoy.
The sanctions were imposed as part of the economic campaign led by the defense establishment against Hamas and against attempts to destabilize the Gaza Strip – efforts that also involve the US – and following intensive activity by the Israeli Navy, the Military Intelligence Directorate, and the National Bureau for Counter Terror at the Defense Ministry.
The flotilla, which departed from several countries including Turkey,Spain, and Italy, includes more than 100 vessels and approximately 1,000 participants. According to the Defense Ministry, the flotilla is in violation of UN Security Council Resolution 2803, which requires that aid to the Strip enter through official channels, and therefore undermines the stabilization efforts led by the Trump administration as part of its push for regional stability.
At the forefront of the public-facing operation is the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF), which is raising funds to purchase vessels and recruit participants. These steps are being taken in a manner that is neither transparent to the public nor necessarily legal. Recently, figures associated with the organization were arrested in Tunisia on suspicion of money laundering and corruption, and the organization’s leadership has been detained in several locations on those same suspicions.
Meanwhile, organizers of the flotilla sailing to Gaza, said the Israeli Navy intercepted 15 of 68 vessels early Thursday morning (30th).
The Israeli Navy began to intercept the flotilla near the Greek Island of Crete overnight, hundreds of nautical miles from Israel.
The Navy called on the remaining activists to turn back or alternatively, if they have humanitarian aid, to deliver it to Ashdod Port where it will be inspected before entering Gaza. The Navy said that if they continued on their course they would all be stopped.
Chief Of Staff In South Lebanon: ‘We won’t Leave Without Security For The North’
The Chief of the General Staff, LTG Eyal Zamir visited the 36th Division in the area of the town of A-Taybeh in southern Lebanon, on Wednesday (29th.). Participating in the visit were the Commanding officer of the Northern Command, MG Nadav Lotan, the Division Commander BG Yiftach Norkin, as well as brigade and battalion commanders.
During the visit, the Chief of the General Staff conducted an operational situational assessment, received briefings from the division and brigade commanders, issued directives for the continuation of the operation, and spoke with battalion commanders operating in Lebanon.
Later, the Chief of the General Staff met with the Head of the Mevo’ot HaHermon Regional Council, Beni Ben Muvhar.
Chief of Staff Zamir said: “We are in a historic war, and this is a generation of heroism. Battalion and brigade commanders – there has been nothing like it since the 1948 generation. You are conducting exemplary battles, and I salute you. We are operating with a clear understanding of the gravity of this moment.”
“Hezbollah draws its strength from Iran. We have struck Iran severely. We have dismantled the majority of the components of Iran’s defense industry – including the factories that produce weapons for Hezbollah,” he said. “Regarding threats along our borders – we have changed our approach. We will not allow a terrorist army to exist along our borders. We will not allow them to establish themselves there – there is no containment, only determination. We will continue to remove threats wherever they emerge. You are the exemplary generation making this happen.”
Zamir stated,: “We have achieved everything defined for us by the political echelon regarding the current operation in Iran and Lebanon – and beyond. In doing so, we have created the operational conditions for the processes now being led by the political echelon.”
“In Lebanon, the mission assigned to us by the political echelon is to position ourselves along a line that prevents direct fire on the communities. We have achieved this – this is the line we are holding. We may be required to remain on it. We will not tolerate attacks and fire on our communities, and we will not leave until long-term security for the northern communities is ensured,” he said.
“We continue operating and are working to deepen our operational achievements and protect our troops. On the front lines, we are not ceasing fire – you will continue to operate, remove direct and indirect threats from the northern communities, dismantle terrorist infrastructure, locate and eliminate terrorists. Any threat, anywhere, to our communities or our troops – including beyond the Forward Defense Line and north of the Litani will be dismantled. Your mission and duty is to act with operational freedom and eliminate any threat. At this stage, we are not advancing beyond the Forward Defense Line, but we will continue to operate and remove threats freely. The troops on the ground continue to operate.and there are no restrictions on dismantling infrastructure and killing terrorists.”
“”During the recent Memorial Day and Independence Day events, I experienced the public’s support for us–for us, the troops. I am proud of you. Great appreciation from me on behalf of the entire people of Israel. Continue to operate and prevail,” the Chief of the General Staff concluded,
Tennessee Governor Signs Law Recognizing Judea And Samaria Terminology
Tennessee Governor Bill Lee signed into law legislation that mandates state agencies to refer to the “disputed territories” as Judea and Samaria rather than the commonly used term “West Bank” in all official communications and documents, JNS reported.
The signing of the legislation into law occurred on Monday (27th) according to the report.
The Recognizing Judea and Samaria Act, which was approved earlier this month by the Tennessee General Assembly, prohibits state entities from employing the term “West Bank” in guidance documents, regulations, press releases, briefings, and other government materials. Limited exceptions may be granted at the discretion of agency heads.
The legislation explicitly declares that “Judea and Samaria” represent “historically, biblically, and legally accurate terms for the region.”
Yigal Dilmoni, CEO and co-founder of American Friends of Judea and Samaria, the organization that spearheaded education and public awareness efforts in the United States regarding the area, welcomed the development in comments to JNS.
“It slowly will change the narrative for Israel,” Dilmoni said. “It’s very important, not only for Israel, but also for the United States, that people will be more familiar with the real history, and will fight against all the lies spoken about Israel.”
“They are starting to speak the truth, and to teach the children the truth,” he added.
Dilmoni further told JNS that updating official government terminology to reflect the historic and biblical names of the region serves to further unite Israel and the United States.
He emphasized that the two countries “share the same interest, not only in this war, but also in sharing the truth.”
Stabbing Spree In London’s Jewish Neighborhood Leaves One Fighting For Life
At least two Jewish people were wounded in a stabbing attack in the Golders Green neighborhood in northern London, the Jewish security organization Shomrim (volunteer Jewish neighborhood watch and security patrol) reported.
According to reports, two people were wounded and the attacker – whose identity has not been disclosed, other than the fact that he was a Somali national – was apprehended by Shomrim personnel and handed over to police officers who arrived at the scene and placed him under arrest. Videos uploaded to social media showed a woman lying on the road following the attack. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said the attack was “deeply concerning”
The stabbing took place near the Sadigur Hasidic synagogue on Golders Green Road, in the heart of the most heavily Jewish area of the British capital. According to reports, the wounded are two ultra-Orthodox men, and there are fears for the life of one of them. The wounded received treatment from Hatzalah (volunteer Jewish emergency medical service), the local Jewish ambulance organization. Several of those vehicles were set ablaze last month in a previous antisemitic attack.
Gedaliah Weinberg, a local resident, said the attack took place almost directly outside his home. He received a notification after hearing the police and ambulances arrive. He said one stabbing occurred on Golders Green Road outside the shops, and a second stabbing took place on a side street outside the Saligur synagogue.
Matan Bar Noy, the World Zionist Organization’s emissary to Britain, posted a shaken video from London immediately after the attack. “I am taking off my kippa now on the street, and also my pin, because the instruction is to conceal all Jewish symbols right now,” he said. “It’s sad that we are in Britain, a free, democratic country that saved the Jews from the Nazis and the entire free world, and now you cannot walk around here as a Jew in safety. Very sad.”
In response to the Golders Green attack, Deputy Foreign Minister MK Sharan Haskel said, “The Golders Green attack is the inevitable result of a policy that gives a tailwind to, and encourages extremist Islamist elements through its actions. Tolerating unbridled incitement under the guise of ‘political criticism’ directly undermines the security of the Jewish community and the basic right of any visibly Jewish person to visit their neighborhood synagogue safely. The British government must recognize its responsibility toward Jews living in the kingdom and act forcefully against rising antisemitism, with the understanding that anti-Israel rhetoric turns into physical violence, terrorist attacks in the streets, and the murder of innocent people.”
Yaakov Hagoel, chairman of the World Zionist Organization, who is currently in London, said, “I am here to make clear to the British authorities that they are responsible for the safety of Jews in Britain just as they are for every other citizen. Incitement against Jews can cost precious lives, and we are seeing its signs right now, here on the streets of London. We are working together with the authorities to eradicate this terrible phenomenon and allow Jews everywhere to walk freely and safely. I call on British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and London Mayor Sadiq Khan to act decisively against antisemitism in this country.
A spokesperson for the Campaign Against Antisemitism said, “Witnesses told us it appeared to be a stabbing attack targeting Jews on the street. Details are still emerging, but in light of recent events, many in the Jewish community fear this is another targeted attack against British Jews. We are grateful to Shomrim, Hatzalah, and the police for their swift response, and our prayers are with the victims.”
Golders Green has seen several antisemitic attacks in recent months – most recently the day before yesterday, when unidentified individuals set fire to a memorial wall in the neighborhood commemorating victims of the Iranian regime. Last month, local terrorists set fire to several Hatzalah ambulances near a synagogue in the area.
