1000 US Pastors Travel to Israel to Train as ‘Ambassadors’
That evangelical Christians support Israel is a gratefully acknowledged fact by Jewish people and Israelis alike. But, it is a concern that support seems in decline. A concern that has not escaped Prime Minister Netanyahu’s notice. In cooperation with The Friends of Zion director, Rev. Michael Evans, 1,000 American evangelical pastors came to Israel “becoming the largest group to visit Israel since its founding.” During the visit they met with key leaders in the government and military. The government’s hope and expected aim was to “provide training and prepare participants to serve as unofficial ambassadors for Israel in their communities.”
Mike Evans said of this mission, “This week we want pastors to experience Israel first-hand and be reminded of these foundational truths (the biblical basis of Israel’s presence in the land and the Jewish roots of Christianity). These pastors will have “an immersive, state-level experience that included meetings with Israeli officials, generals, intelligence leaders and President Isaac Herzog.”
There is no better way to generate passion, love, and support for Israel than going to the land and experiencing the beauty, history, and people personally. It is, indeed, a life changing and faith strengthening encounter.
If you haven’t been to Israel, we at The Friends of Israel can give you that opportunity.
