Israel at War: Week 158
Both Israel and the United States face crucial elections in the coming weeks. Israel’s election will be held next Tuesday, October 27, in a war time election as Israel enters year 3 of its war with Hamas, and Hamas’s benefactor, Iran. This election holds significance for Israel and the Middle East region.
Israel has believed that Iran may try and strike in an attempt to interfere with the election, and to that threat, Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff. Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir “has placed the military on its highest state of alert ahead of next week’s election and canceled soldiers’ leave, as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned Israel’s enemies not to test the country.” General Zamir emphasized “the IDF’s mission is to enable the democratic elections to take place on schedule and safely.”
The alert will maintain both vigilance and readiness across all fronts. He has ordered a leave freeze across IDF units starting Thursday, requiring soldiers to remain on base instead of taking planned leave “subject to ongoing situational assessments.”
The Bible urges us to pray for our leaders, for those in authority, that we may live a quiet and peaceful life in godliness and reverence. (1 Timothy 2:1-3). Ultimately, God determines a nation’s leader as He places into authority those He chooses (Daniel 2:20-23).
In these days of decision, pray for God’s will to be done and for a safe, attack-free election.
