A Shelter from Harm

I want to introduce you to a good friend of The Friends of Israel, Rabbi Shmuel Bowman, Executive Director of Operation Lifeshield in Israel. An organization meeting a significant need in Israel, providing shelters for Israelis, whether Arab or Jewish, for protection during rocket attacks.

In our time together today Shmuel used the word ‘significant’ to describe their work of providing bomb shelters throughout Israel. At the conclusion of our meeting I would say that Operation Lifeshield’s work is vital in Israel.

Shmuel gave example after example of the need for shelters throughout Israel, from north to south. Areas that are vulnerable to significant casualties because they have no shelters for their residents. His examples touched my heart, as he told how donations from our constituents provided safety and survival to individuals and communities during barrages of rockets. He mentioned one man who could say, “I am alive today because you saved my life through this shelter.” I mentioned to Shmuel, “You know God is called our shelter in the storms and trials of life (Psalm 143:9).

Often people want to know how to impact or assist Israel, one way is to give to our Israel Relief Fund.
