Gantz Visits Bahrain for Historic Signing
Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz made a surprise visit to Bahrain Wednesday (2nd) to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), Israel’s first with a Gulf country. This comes on the heels of President Isaac Herzog’s first-ever state visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) last week. Israel’s MOU will create a security cooperation framework to formalize defense relations with Bahrain, The Jerusalem Post reported. It will promote further cooperation between the two nations in various fields and will include a number of arms agreements and other defense-related sales.
The stage has already been set for the next big Middle East conflict to come. As Iran has ramped up its nuclear program to an unstoppable point, Israel is preparing to bear the brunt of its wrath. Gantz’s visit to Bahrain, Herzog’s visit to the UAE last week, and Prime Minister Naftali Bennett’s visit to the UAE in December were made to set up a defense against an imminent Iranian attack. The Jewish nation’s timely alliances with its Arab allies in the UAE, Bahrain, and elsewhere (including Morocco and Sudan in the Abraham Accords) could go a long way toward surviving a wave of nuclear attacks from the growing superpower of Iran. These friendships are crucial, but they are not what will ultimately save Israel—God is. He is the only explanation for their survival throughout history, and we trust He will not let His Chosen People be destroyed by their latest attackers either.
