Hamas Seeks Endless War, Not Gaza’s Welfare
Hamas terrorists told The New York Times in an article posted Wednesday that its objective in its war against Israel is continual conflict until it destroys the Jewish state. Taher el-Nounou, a Hamas media adviser, said, “I hope that the state of war with Israel will become permanent on all the borders, and that the Arab world will stand with us.”
Qatar-based Hamas member Khalil al-Hayya said Hamas’s “goal is not to run Gaza and to bring it water and electricity and such,” nor did they begin the war “because [they] wanted fuel or laborers” or “to improve the situation in Gaza. This battle is to completely overthrow [Israel].”
“Israel is a country that has no place on our land,” Senior Hamas official Ghazi Hamad said. “We must remove that country because it constitutes a security, military, and political catastrophe to the Arab and Islamic nation and must be finished.”
“The existence of Israel is what causes all that pain, blood, and tears,” he added.
Many people don’t understand what kind of enemy Israel is dealing with. Hamas makes no bones about its quest to destroy Israel. It openly calls for the elimination of the Jewish homeland and is “not ashamed to say this, with full force,” according to Hamad.
An appeasement policy will not curb these terrorists’ bloodlust. Because Hamas’s only desire is to annihilate Israel, finding common ground between the two sides is impossible. And because Israel must defend itself just to survive, the path to peace now lies on the other side of the battlefield. We must continue to pray for Israel to endure these deadly days, trusting that God will continue to preserve His Chosen People according to His promises.
