Help!
Concerning the recent horrific collapse of part of the 12 story oceanfront Champlain Towers condo complex in Surfside, Florida, Diaspora Affairs Minister Nachman Shai told Governor DeSantis, “I was instructed by the prime minister to check what the needs are and tell you that we are here and ready. There are no limits to what we are ready to offer. We brought you our best people. We chose carefully each one of these individuals, who come with relevant experiences from past events. If you need another 100, we have them.”
The assembled Israeli team consists of the head of the team, IDF Col. (Res.) Golan Vach, along with ten other members from Home Front Command, each top experts in engineering.
The situation is grim at the complex with nine confirmed dead and 150 residents still missing. Diaspora Minister Shai admitted, “The chance for finding anyone alive is small.” Surfside Mayor Burkett said, “We have waves of search and rescue teams going in and going out. So it’s moving along. We don’t have a resource problem, we have a luck problem. We need to get more lucky right now.”
Rescue teams are searching the site with mechanical devices, and even with their hands in hopes of finding survivors. As Delegation Official Elad Edri said, “We are here to bring hope. After the Haiti earthquake we rescued someone after 108 hours.
The structure had experienced issues for years, “and was even the subject of a scientific study last year that warned of it sinking into the earth.”
Mayor Burkett said, “We need to get more lucky.” We can add this reminder, “God is our Refuge and Strength, a very present help in trouble” (Psalm 46:1). Pray for the families of those who died, the families of those missing, the rescue teams, including the 11 member Israeli delegation.
