Hope for Today and Tomorrow
As COVID-19 nears its one year anniversary of its presence on the world stage, and appears to have an aggressive variant, the vaccine developed by Pfizer is being distributed in Israel. At a cost of 1 Billion NIS ($315 Million), Israel is receiving the vaccine from Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna. It costs $47 per person, and Israel hopes to have 5 million persons of its 9.9 million citizens inoculated by March. Tuesday the Health Ministry said that 1,854,055 citizens have received the first dose. “By far the highest vaccination rate in the world, according to the Our World in Data website.”
Prime Minister Netanyahu announced, “The agreement that I have made with Pfizer will enable us to vaccinate all citizens over the age of 16 by the end of March, meaning that we will vaccinate the entire relevant population and everyone who wants to will be able to be vaccinated.”
On Tuesday, Israel begins vaccinating those over 55 years of age.
This is good news in the long, arduous trial that Israel and the world have endured in the past year. Thank God for the hope the vaccine brings.
