Hundreds of Terrorists Surrender Amid Calls for Ceasefire

The IDF has made significant progress in defeating Hamas, as it reported it has eliminated hundreds of Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorists in Gaza in recent weeks. It also struck more than 300 terror targets in the past 24 hours, destroying much Hamas infrastructure. Additionally, about 500 terror suspects have surrendered to the IDF.

International pressure is mounting on Israel to agree to a ceasefire, and U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has discussed with IDF officials the need to scale back major combat operations. But he reiterated U.S. support for Israel, saying, “This is Israel’s operation. I’m not here to dictate timelines or terms.” The United States has vetoed calls for a ceasefire at the United Nations and resupplied the IDF with munitions.

After October 7, it seemed clear that more than 1,000 murders by Hamas operatives constituted an act of war, one that would allow Israel to fight back and ideally dismantle the terrorist organization that perpetually seeks its destruction. Unsurprisingly, now that Israel seems to have a clear path to victory, it is asked to take its foot off the pedal. But Israel cannot continue to live in constant fear of a terrorist organization, one created specifically to demolish it, that sits on its border. Hundreds of terrorists surrendering is as good a sign as any that Israel is in the driver’s seat and marching toward victory.
