Israel at War: Week 119

Prime Minister Netanyahu boldly stated that he freely expresses his opinions with President Trump regarding discussions and negotiations—especially where it concerns Israeli security. In President Trump’s Board of Peace, two specific countries Netanyahu outrightly rejected are Qatar and Turkey, vowing that they will not be allowed to enter Israel. Period. It appears he and the President disagreed on this nomination, as he ‘admits to disagreement with US over these two enemies of Israel.’ His disagreement is legitimate, as Qatar funds and aided Hamas in their war with Israel. In his attempt to bring peace, the Trump Administration appears bent on including known enemies and opponents of Israel on his board, an international body that will supposedly disarm and dissolve Hamas and it’s militant aims of annihilating Israel.

A reminder should go out to President Trump, his team members, and every participant in this process of bringing peace to Gaza. On October 8, 2023, Prime Minister laid out his aims for the war; to free the hostages, disarm and defeat Hamas, and to assure that Gaza will never again be able to threaten Israel again. He clearly stated, “This is a war of good against evil, of light against darkness. And light must win.” Those aims must be paramount in any negotiations and discussions regarding Israel’s survival and victory. Prime Minister Netanyahu affirmed as much when he said, “Phase Two of the peace plan will involve disarming and dismantling Hamas.”

Also, a single deceased hostage remains in Gaza. Until his remains are returned, the terms for ending the war with Hamas from Israel’s viewpoint remain unfulfilled.
