Israel at War: Week 123

In the midst of the war, a surprising phenomenon is happening in Israel: a baby boom is occurring! Israel has a birth rate of 3.07 children (2024), surpassing the Arab birth rate of 2.7, and has the highest birth rate among the developed world (OECD). “It is a sign of optimism and confidence in the future for Israeli families. Following World War II, a significant baby boom occurred as soldiers returned home to their families. However, Israel’s baby boom is occurring in the middle of the war. “Israeli maternity wards reported being significantly busier, with some locations experiencing up to 30% more births compared to previous periods.”

In addition to being a statement of hope and confidence, it is also a statement of resistance and life. Israelis have a deep commitment to life, as their motto coming from Jewish literature states, “He who saves a life is as if he saved the whole world. He who takes a life is as if he destroys the whole world.”

Psalm 127: 3-5 states that children are a heritage from the Lord. The recent baby boom is a statement of hope and confidence, resolve and hope in the future and in God!

Indeed, it is a blessing of God on the nation.
