Israel at War: Week 149
Since the Haitian earthquake of 2009 Israel’s military has responded to global disasters by sending in medical teams, search and rescue teams, and equipment, receiving praise from grateful international leaders.
Now with the deadly 7.4 magnitude earthquake in Colombia, Israel responds again.
IsraAid, Israel’s largest non/-governmental organization. (NGO) will lead the emergency response, as already teams are in country. “With more than five years of sustained presence in Colombia, IsraAid is an active member of the local humanitarian architecture, working hand in hand with local communities to address long term challenges and acute crises.” Needs such as “providing mental health and psychological support; mitigating urgent water, sanitation , and hygiene gaps; and carrying out rapid needs assessments in affected communities.”
“Since 2001, IsraAid has become synonymous with a rapid response to humanitarian crises and a long term commitment to affected communities. As of August 2026, IsraAid has responded to more than 110 crises in over 65 countries.”
An amazing response and commitment by Israel to help countries in their hour of need while fighting for their own survival.
