Israel at War: Week 7
HEATED BATTLE
Israel has advanced deeply into Gaza City and the fighting has, as expected, been fierce. An example, the 36th Battalion has encountered “hundreds of Hamas operatives” in the Zeitoun neighborhood. Hamas operatives are working in cells of between five and ten terrorists each. The battalion commander Brigadier General Dado Kalifa reported: “Troops encountered the enemy hiding behind children, and women, and behind sensitive civilian infrastructure. They have encountered many dozens of terrorists since the beginning of the fighting in the neighborhood, conducting close quarters fighting with them, eliminating many of them.”
They discovered “a rocket making lab, weapons, explosive devices, a drone, and a tunnel inside a mosque in the neighborhood.” They also uncovered the offices of the head of Hamas’s Gaza City Brigade and destroyed it. They also found and destroyed an Islamic Jihad compound that held “a number of heavy and long range rockets.”
A PLEA FOR RELEASE
On World Children’s Day, the Israeli Association for Early Childhood urges more of an effort from UN members to “secure the release of some 40 children and babies held by terror groups adds to their suffering.” The Association “called out what it alleged is ‘the silence of United Nations members, charging ‘that it constitutes additional abuse that encourages future harm to children around the world, also yours.’
As we celebrate Thanksgiving this Thursday, remember the hostages, praying for their release and urging our government leaders to vigorously pursue their freeing.
To you our faithful friends and supporters, we thank God for you. We take this time of year to wish you and your families a blessed and Happy Thanksgiving.
