Israel at War: Week 9
Three words describe the current military operation in Gaza; pernicious, complex, and difficult.
The pernicious aspect comes from an enemy that can fight from within civilian areas and merge into the crowd unnoticed.
One complex aspect is how to deal with the tunnel maze beneath Gaza. How to eliminate the tunnels without harming any potential hostages harbored there. Another difficult area has been the discovery by the IDF of shells, rockets, and rocket launchers in civilian places like schools, hospitals, and mosques, putting both civilians and IDF soldiers at risk.
Finally, the difficult aspect comes as military officials believe that following the defeat of Hamas in Gaza will come the dismantling of Hezbollah in the north in Lebanon. As the National Security Adviser observed, “The fear regarding Hezbollah’s Radwan force is “that within minutes it could cross the border and begin a rampage of murderous slaughter in northern communities like Hamas did on October 7. After October 7, “Israel cannot tolerate this threat any longer.”
Pernicious, difficult, and complex summarize the current Hamas-Israel War. Pray that God, the Ultimate Defender of Israel, brings a decisive victory to Israel in this conflict. (See Psalms 20-21,121.) “This is a war of good against evil, of light against darkness. And light must win!” – Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
