Israel at War: Week 96

In a rare foreign press conference, Prime Minister Netanyahu rightly and forcefully challenged international media for embracing Hamas propaganda. The three most celebrated photos of supposed Israeli starvation were “all fake.”

He emphasized that the only people starving in Gaza were the hostages. He explained who the three children were in the photos and the true reason for their condition. It was from disease, not from Israeli imposed starvation. He listed the children and their diseases. “Five year old Osama Al Rakah who suffers from a serious genetic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system making it difficult to absorb nutrients and gain weight. Abdul Qader al Fayoumi who died from a neurological disorder, spinal muscular atrophy which causes severe weight loss unrelated to nutrition. Finally, “he turns to the most celebrated case, Muhammad Zakaria Ayoub Al-Mutawaq and his mother. He suffers from cerebral palsy, but his mother appears well fed and his brother is healthy. These are the three most celebrated photos and they are all fake. I am looking right now into the possibility of a governmental lawsuit against the New York Times because this is outrageous.”

In a contrast to the diseased children the photo of Israeli hostage Evyatar David looking extremely emaciated due to Hamas starvation is, sadly accurate and true. I agree with his statement regarding these three photos, “The media took the bait hook, line, and sinker [of Hamas propaganda] and I hope you can open your eyes to the simple fact that Hamas lies.”

It is an example of Mark Twain’s comment, “A lie can be half way around the world before the truth even gets its shoes on.” One way to pray for Israel at this time is that the truth regarding Hamas and their true aims would be revealed and believed by both governments and media outlets, whether locally or internationally.
