Israel’s Population Approaching 10 Million

Israel’s population has grown again in the Jewish year 5782, which ends on Sunday night. It currently has 9,593,000 residents, an increase from 9,449,000 at the end of 2021. That number is expected to reach 10 million by the end of 2024 and 15 million by the end of 2048. Approximately 177,000 new Israelis were born in 5782, and 63,000 immigrants arrived, including 40,000 from Ukraine fleeing the war. About 7,069,000 Israelis are Jewish, about 2 million are Arabs, and about 500,000 have different ethnic backgrounds. The worldwide Jewish population has also increased from 15.2 million last year to about 15.3 this year.

God continues to sustain the nation of Israel and the Jewish people, as they continue to grow in number. The number to keep in mind is 16.5 million—the world Jewish population before the Holocaust. If the Jewish population continues to grow at its current pace, it could return to that number about 100 years after the Holocaust began and threatened to eliminate the Jewish people completely. Each year we see these numbers rise, we are reminded of God’s promise to his people and His miraculous provision for them. Praise God for the endurance and growth of Israel and the Jewish people!
