While some question the validity of the account of Hanukkah, The Hasmonean Museum in Israel will display during the week of Hanukkah “a wooden box containing 15 silver coins, recently found in the Negev, dating to the time of the Maccabean revolt.” Related to this era, “a rare sling bullet from the Hasmonean period”, was found in Yavne in a construction project. The inscription on the projectile lists two Greek gods, Heracles and Cronus, which was intended to ensure victory to the forces.
Two fascinating finds bringing historic evidence of the Maccabean revolt.
We wish you a very Happy Hanukkah, Merry Christmas, and a Blessed New Year!
