Israel Uncovers Terrorist Cell That Planned To Target Netanyahu – Yoav Zitun
The Israel Security Agency announced Tuesday (5th) it had uncovered and thwarted a terrorist cell guided by a terror operative from Syria, which had planned to target senior Israeli officials including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat. Three members of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine were arrested. Terror attacks also were planned against the American Consulate and a Canadian delegation in Jerusalem.

Most Nakba Day Protests Postponed Till Friday
On Tuesday’ (5th, Nakba Day) fence protests were limited, as most events marking 51 years since Arab defeat in the Six-Day War will take place Friday (8th) to synchronize protests with ‘Jerusalem Day’ events in Iran.
Again, on Friday (8th), the IDF will try to prevent protestors from crossing into Israel while minimizing the number of Palestinian casualties, as killings could lead to rocket barrages, which in turn could escalate into war. The forces will also deal with Palestinian cells attempting to plant explosives on the fence.

JNF Will Sue Hamas Over Damage From Rockets, Incendiary Kites
The Jewish National Fund said it will sue Hamas in international court for environmental damage caused to land it owns near the border with Gaza.
The damage has been caused in recent weeks by rockets, mortar shells, and incendiary kites.
“It is inconceivable that the international community would allow Hamas not to be held accountable and pay for its criminal acts, not only against citizens of the State of Israel, but against nature and the environment. Hamas shows no concern for humans, animals or natural resources,” JNF World Chairman Daniel Atar said in a statement.
On Tuesday (5th) alone, nine fires were started by incendiary kites from Gaza.

Netanyahu: Israel Wants To Stave Off ‘Humanitarian Collapse’ in Gaza
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Monday (4th) that Israel was “examining various possibilities to prevent a humanitarian collapse in Gaza.” He made the remarks as he was boarding a plane for Paris after his meeting with Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin.
He stressed that Israel was the main actor and possibly the only one working to improve the situation for the Palestinians in the coastal enclave, saying that neither the Palestinian Authority nor Hamas was helping.
“Regarding Gaza, we are exploring various options to prevent a humanitarian collapse there,” Netanyahu said.

NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg’s remark that the North Atlantic Treaty Organization would not come to Israel’s aid in a war with Iran is “strange” considering that Israel has never requested or expected this type of assistance, former Foreign Minister director-general Dore Gold said on Sunday (3rd). “I think this just proves the wisdom of Israel’s security doctrine for all these years: that Israel will defend itself by itself and not rely on any kind of external security umbrella,” Gold said.
Gold, the head of the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs, said that Stoltenberg’s comments were “unhelpful” since they “feed into Israel’s suspicion that you cannot rely on the outside world in any way. In any event, we never thought that we could, which is why we always thought that we have to have the ability to defend ourselves by ourselves.”

France’s Peugeot To Suspend Iran Joint Ventures – David Keohane
PSA, owner of the French carmaker Peugeot, said it had begun to suspend its joint ventures in Iran “in order to comply with U.S. law by August 6, 2018.” The carmaker signed a joint venture in 2016 to invest 400 million euros in Iran by 2020.

Lieberman: Iran’s Announcement Shows It’s In A State Of Panic
Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman said Tuesday (5th) that Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei’s announcement that he has ordered preparations to increase uranium enrichment capacity is “a sign of the hysteria and panic in the Iranian leadership.”
“It is a response to Peugeot’s announcement that it is suspending its activity in Tehran,” he went on to say.
“When such a corporation announces that it is leaving Iran because of the sanctions, it’s a sort of signal to the entire business community, to all the investors, and this is not a marginal company,” Lieberman said.

Louis Farrakhan Attacks Jews And Judaism From His Chicago Pulpit
Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan attacked Jews and Judaism during a three-hour sermon from his pulpit at Mosque Maryam in Chicago.
The May 27th sermon was his first major public speaking appearance since February, according to the Anti-defamation League.
During his sermon Farrakhan, a known anti-Semite, warned his listeners about “satanic Jews who have infected the whole world with poison and deceit.”
He also claimed that contemporary Jews are responsible for promoting child molestation, misogyny, police brutality and sexual assault, among other social ills. He said that contemporary Judaism is nothing but a “system of tricks and lies” that Jews study in order to learn how to “dominate” non-Jews.

Israeli Flag Made Of Cookies In Atlanta Breaks Guinness World Record
The Atlanta Jewish community broke a Guinness World Record after creating an Israeli flag of edible cookies
The flag assembled by volunteers on Sunday (3rd) used about 117,000 cookies and stretched to 3,224 feet across the plastic-covered floor of the Heritage Hall in Congregation Beth Jacob. It was created to celebrate Israel’s 70th birthday.
The previous record-holder was a flag to mark Pakistan’s 70th. The new record-holder is 32% larger, the Atlanta Jewish Times reported.
The flag was certified by Guinness shortly before noon on Sunday (3rd).
