Keeping the Peace
Shin Bet Director Ronen Bar disclosed in a speech at Reichman University in Herzliya that 312 ‘significant terror attacks’ have been averted this year “as the Israeli military has ramped up operations in the West Bank under its direction.” He details the operation results as follows: “We foiled 312 significant attacks, including stabbings, shootings, and have made 2,110 arrests since the beginning of the year.” He noted that “a massive increase in shooting attacks against troops and civilians has occurred in the West Bank-130 so far this year, compared to 98 in 2021, and 19 in 2020.”
These attacks demand an increased response by the military, but these attacks impact the Palestinian population in two ways. First, by innocent civilians being harmed. Second, by the status of the Palestinian Authority (PA) further declining among the local population.” For the Israeli residents, they view the Israeli military presence and activity as “a protective blanket,” and as a way “to foil further attacks.”
Israel’s security forces understands and practices the adage, “The price of freedom is eternal vigilance.” They protect and defend all Israeli citizens, Jews and Arabs alike.
