Last Minute Change Bloc Government Formed in Israel

Thirty-five minutes before a midnight deadline, Yesh Atid leader Yair Lapid on Wednesday night informed Israeli President Reuven Rivlin he is able to form a government in which he and Yamina chief Naftali Bennett will rotate as prime minister, positioning themselves to replace Israel’s longest-serving Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Democracy in Israel is vibrant as a wide array of Israeli parties encompassing various political persuasion joined together to oust Netanyahu. It’s looking as though the next Prime Minister will be extremely conservative Naftali Bennent, but he has joined forces with moderates like Yair Lapid and even an Islamist party Ra’am to unseat Netanyahu. This new coalition government is very fragile, and one disagreement could bring the Israeli people back to the polls.
