Satellite images show Iran has started rebuilding key missile sites hit by Israel
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Iran has begun rebuilding missile-production sites targeted by Israel during its 12-day war in June, satellite images analyzed by The Associated Press show, but a key component is likely still missing — the large mixers needed to produce solid fuel for the weapons.
Reconstituting the missile program is crucial for the Islamic Republic, which believes another round of war with Israel may happen. The missiles are one of Iran’s few military deterrents after the war decimated its air defense systems — something that Tehran long has insisted will never be included in negotiations with the West.
Missile experts told AP that obtaining the mixers is a goal for Tehran, particularly as it prepares for possible United Nations sanctions to be reimposed on the country later this month. The sanctions would penalize any development of the missile program, among other measures. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian is due to address the United Nations General Assembly on Wednesday.
‘Cynical and systematic’: IDF footage exposes terrorists firing from Gaza’s Shifa Hospital
The IDF identified terrorists firing from Gaza’s Shifa Hospital a few days ago, the military stated on Wednesday, publishing aerial footage of the incident along with the statement.
“The use of a civilian structure, and particularly an active hospital, is further proof of Hamas’ cynical and systematic modus operandi of exploiting civilian infrastructure as manned terror command posts,” the IDF stated.
In using the hospital in this way, Hamas is intentionally putting at risk the lives of civilians, including hospital patients and staff, the military added.“The IDF will continue to operate resolutely to thwart terrorist activity, while adhering to international law and mitigating harm to civilians,” the IDF concluded.
‘Israel will kneel’ to world pressure on Palestine: PA official
The Palestinian Authority’s ambassador to the United Nations hailed recent recognitions of an independent Palestinian state by major world powers, saying the momentum will increase international pressure on Israel.
PA Ambassador Riyad Mansour made the remarks in Arabic-language interviews and statements after the UK, Australia, Canada, and Portugal announced formal recognition of Palestine on Sunday.
Mansour said the move signaled that “soon, the entire world would recognize an independent Palestinian state.”
The recognitions are “historic, especially coming from Britain,” Mansour added, saying he believed that achieving “permanent status for Palestine at the UN” was on the horizon.
Mansour praised Colombia for ending diplomatic relations with Israel and Norway for divesting billions from investments tied to Israeli companies — actions he described as part of a growing list of measures that will “limit this illegal occupation.”
The ambassador added that “these are only examples of practical measures that will multiply and expand to limit this illegal occupation until Netanyahu and his government kneel and submit to the will of the world and the people.”
Alon Ohel’s family: He is losing his vision, he looks terrified
The family of hostage Alon Ohel responded on Monday evening to a new video released by the murderous terrorist organization Hamas, showing Alon, who has been held captive in Gaza for 717 days.
“Our family is trembling and in pain after the release of Alon’s video by Hamas. It is clear that Alon is losing vision in his right eye, and he appears emaciated and terrified. We demand that eye doctors be allowed to examine and treat him as a condition for any further negotiations or aid to Hamas,” the Ohel family stated.
“On the eve of Rosh Hashanah, during these days of repentance, the fate of young Jewish lives – Israeli citizens – lies in the hands of the Prime Minister and the Cabinet. Do not break the hearts of the people of Israel. The most critical national issue now is the return of Alon and all the hostages to their homes.”
The family also requested that the video not be shared, as its content constitutes psychological terrorism.
Trump meets Arab and Muslim leaders on sidelines of UN Assembly
US President Donald Trump met Tuesday with Arab and Muslim leaders in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, including representatives from Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Turkey, Pakistan, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Jordan. According to reports, Trump is expected to outline his vision for peace and present guiding principles for Gaza’s future once the war ends.
Opening the meeting as he sat alongside Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Trump said: “This will be a very important meeting with leaders from a very important region. We want to end the war in Gaza. These leaders are held in great respect by me and by the White House. We want to bring the hostages home and return to normal life. We will speak with whoever we need to, including Bibi. The families of the hostages want them back, and this is the group capable of making that happen. No one else in the world can do it.”
At the conclusion of the meeting, Trump remarked that it had been “a wonderful meeting with wonderful leaders.” He also told the participants that this had been “the most important meeting I’ve had. I don’t want to offend anyone, I’ve had 32 meetings.” The president added that they were on the verge of ending something “that probably should never have started in the first place.”
Earlier in the day, several of the largest Muslim countries — Qatar, Turkey, Jordan and Indonesia — slammed Israel from the UN podium. They accused Israel of “genocide” and of obstructing negotiations to end the war in Gaza.
Qatar went further, calling Israel’s actions “terrorism” following its strike on a the Hamas delegation in Doha.
