One Step Closer
At Tel Aviv University researchers have made a hopeful discovery in treating Pancreatic Cancer. The initial experimental results, used on mice, led to a destruction of “pancreatic cancer cells, eradicating the number of cancerous cells by up to 90% after daily injecting of a small molecule, PJ34.”
Most pancreatic cancer sufferers don’t survive five years. Yet, the two teams headed respectively by Professor Malka Cohen-Armon of Tel Aviv University’s Sackler Faculty of Medicine, and Dr. Talia Golan’s team at the Cancer Research Center at Sheba Medical Center, have found that a month after 14 consecutive days of injection led to “90% of pancreatic cell reduction, and in one mouse it led to a complete disappearance.”
In the view of Cohen-Armon, she hopes to be able to try experiments on humans within two years, “on the condition we can get the funding.”
A ray of hope and one step closer to eliminating pancreatic cancer. Here’s to hoping and praying they receive the funding for their work.
