Perilous Times
In the past week eleven Israelis have been killed in terrorist attacks. With the onset of Ramadan, the month long Muslim holiday that often brings tension between Israel and the West Bank (Judea and Samaria), IDF Chief of Staff Aviv Kohavi, has warned his commanders “to prepare for a possible second Guardian of the Walls operation,” referring to the IDF operation last May. Hamas launched a torrent of rockets from Gaza last May, totaling 4,368. “Israel has ramped up security measures in response to the attacks and deployed additional forces to the West Bank, Gaza border, and major cities such as Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.”
Prime Minister Bennett reminded the nation, “Terrorists have all kinds of ideas, so we are on high alert, both the Shin Bet and the Israel Police, to thwart it in advance.” An example of the heightened awareness came Saturday when Israel authorities stopped a Palestinian who had entered illegally and who planned attacks. Additionally, Chief of Staff Kohavi said the IDF had stopped ten terrorist attacks the past two weeks.
The reminder to all Israelis can be summarized with the statement, “You can sleep Israel, because the IDF is awake.” Even better is the reminder, “He who keeps Israel neither slumbers or sleeps” (Psalm 121:4).
