Stabbing Attack in Samaria Kills Three Israelis

On Tuesday morning, a terrorist killed three people and wounded four others in a stabbing attack. His rampage lasted 16 minutes, as he attacked Israelis at a gas station and an industrial zone in the Israeli city of Ariel in Samaria. The Palestinian attacker killed two Israeli men in their 40s and one in his 30s before being shot dead by IDF security forces.

It’s no secret that there’s a security problem in Judea and Samaria. For several months, this area has suffered much more terrorism than the already large amount it usually does, but in recent weeks it appeared that the violence was easing up. The IDF’s Operation Break the Wave has been underway since a string of attacks on Israelis in April that left 20 dead. It has seen its share of victories, including its recent elimination of the Palestinian terror group the Lion’s Den’s bomb lab and its leader. But this attack undermines the progress the IDF was making. It seems that this was a lone-wolf attack, which, by nature, is extremely difficult to prevent before it starts. The IDF is vigilant and well trained, but it has much more work to do in Judea and Samaria. Terrorism shouldn’t be a weekly or daily event anywhere, and Israelis are depending on the IDF to keep them safe from senseless attacks.
