The Bible Without Israel?
The Danish Bible Society just published a new translation of the New Testament called the New Agreement. One unique feature, a blatant act of Replacement Theology, is the omission of Israel from the text. “The publishers justified the change by claiming that the Israel in the Bible is not the same as Israel today.” The Danish Bible Society is run by the Evangelical Lutheran Church, a strong proponent of supersessionism [replacement theology].
Rabbi Tuly Weisz published The Israel Bible, “a Hebrew version of the Torah, the Prophets, and the Writings with a linear English translation.” He rightly observes, “Each of the 929 chapters of the Israel Bible features a different aspect of the people of Israel, the land of Israel, and the God of Israel. The term Israel encompasses all three and they are inseparable. If you remove Israel from the Bible you remove God from the Bible.”
God Himself answers this foolish act and thought in Jeremiah 31:35-37, He stands behind Israel for eternity.
Those who claim to speak for Him, like the Danish Bible Society, would do well to heed these words, because He says that Israel will never cease being a nation nor will they ever be cast off by Him for all that they have done, because God is Faithful to His promises and His People. I thank God He never removed Israel from His Word! Shame on the Danish Bible Society that they did.
