When the Wolves Come Knocking at Your Door
In the wake of repeated terror attacks against Israel in the past week, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised Israel would respond with “devastating action” against its aggressors in Gaza if they persisted, worldisraelnews.com reported. “Our actions are very strong and they have not yet ended, to put it mildly,” he said. His statements in his weekly Cabinet meeting hinted toward authorizing targeted killings as retaliation. “I want to make it clear: We will not accept any aggression from Gaza,” Netanyahu said. Recent attacks have included incendiary balloons floating in from the Gaza Strip, causing panic among residents. Terrorists also have continued their barrage of missiles, one of which occurred Saturday night. No casualties were reported, and Israel retaliated by bombing two Hamas positions. Citizens are in danger on the streets, as a car-ramming attack and two shootings also highlighted the violent previous week.
There comes a time when enough is enough. It’s frightening to think of Israel having to risk more violence within its borders, but if nothing is done to stop an obscene amount of recent violence, there’s no reason to believe the situation will defuse on its own. Though we seek Israel’s peace, it seems the only way to reach the door of peace is through the door of war. The Israel Defense Forces, as always, is well prepared for this, proven by its recent retaliatory strikes on Hamas. With Netanyahu putting his foot down and demanding an end to terrorist attacks, Israel shows it isn’t willing to be pushed over without defending its people.
