Israel My Glory Sneak Peek with Jesse King, our managing editor, is a video series that gives a glimpse into our latest issue. When I was 9 years old, I was a baseball card fanatic. My bedroom boasted binders stuffed full of cards, lined neatly in 3 x 3 rows across dozens of pages. I happily channeled my birthday, Christmas, and allowance money into new packs of cards to grow my collection. Why? Because baseball mattered to me.
Our passions dictate our pursuits: We work for the things we value most. Faithful believers in Jesus seek to serve the Lord and love what He loves. And because God loves Israel, His “special treasure above all the peoples on the face of the earth” (Dt. 7:6), He blesses those to whom the Jewish nation matters (Gen. 12:3).
For the past 19 months, Israel has lived in the horrific shadow of October 7, 2023. On that day, Hamas’s systematic search-and-destroy mission, in which its operatives murdered 1,200 Israelis and seized 251 hostages, drew a line in the sand. Gone was the notion that Israel’s friendliness could soften the hearts of terrorists. A devastating war ensued between Israel, Hamas, and other Iranian proxies.
Around the world, another war took shape—the war of public opinion. People who once sat on the sidelines or on the fence abruptly faced a choice to side with either Israel or Hamas.
Millions joined the trend to hate Israel and backed the terrorists. Now, Hamas sympathizers freely vent their once-latent antisemitism with cries to destroy Israel and persecute the Jewish people. At times it looks like the entire world has devolved into pre-Holocaust Europe, threatening Jewish people in a way they never imagined would take shape in the 21st century.
But others have become a light in the darkness. Many Christians who had only a hypothetical appreciation for Israel were galvanized into education and advocacy. Knowing Israel matters, they began to voice their feelings and to work for something they valued, creating a new wave of Christian Zionists who obeyed God’s call to bless His Chosen People.
If you’re wondering why your support for Israel truly matters, you’ll find answers in this issue of Israel My Glory. Our authors present an impassioned biblical and political defense of the State of Israel and its people to help you understand the true value of your endorsement of God’s inheritance (Dt. 32:9; Isa. 19:25).
We’re witnessing a pivotal moment in the State of Israel’s history. Have you answered God’s call to bless Israel?
In His service,
Jesse King
