I came across this article while looking for the symbolism of the decreasing value of the metals in Neb’s image. You suggest they represent the diminishing progress of the governments of the world. I agree but prefer to suggest the decentralization political structure is what loses value. Neb’s kingdom was an absolute monarchy which I take to be God’s ideal type of government. His reign during the millennium will be a theocracy. Medo-Persia was a monarchial oligarchy. Darius could not save Daniel from the lion’s den because of the decentralization of power. Greece was a military aristocracy that decentralized when Alexander’s kingdom was divided up among his 4 generals. Rome was a democratic imperialism with the emperor chosen by popular election so there was still less concentration of power thus the lowest in intrinsic value. The feet of iron and clay seem to depict deem to depict a deteriorated Roman empire as a dictatorial Bolshevism with the antichrist as dictator and the will of the people in evidence.
