We have no desire to be trite, or petty or build mountains out of molehills, but we do desire to be true to the Word of God.
The Lord of glory, the Sovereign of the universe, the Creator of all things, the Heavenly Father of all who trust Jesus as Savior, has thus spoken:
I am the Lord: that is my name; and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images (Isa. 42:8).
Santa is a poor substitute for the eternal God. Jesus stepped across the stars to the planet Earth to redeem a fallen race. Santa can’t even make it from the North Pole. Santa is evidence that man has a problem, not a solution to that problem. However humorous, however innocent, however jolly many men perceive Santa to be — he is nothing more and nothing less than a graven image. The unregenerate world may, in ignorance, bow down and worship at his throne, but it is not comely for the sons and daughters of the eternal God to follow in their train. Our worship, adoration and praise should be directed undiminished to the triune God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
