Israel My Glory Sneak Peek with Jesse King, our managing editor, is a video series that gives a glimpse into our latest issue.As is practically a birthright for American boys, I grew up watching superheroes on TV. Even now, I look fondly on those shows from decades past that portrayed a straightforward battle between good and evil, before the era of brooding pessimism and moral ambiguity.
Watching Batman and Superman protect their cities and capture the criminals time and time again made everything feel right with the world. I found comfort knowing that no matter how dark the situation became or how powerful the villains appeared to be, the heroes always saved the day in the final hour.
One day, Israel will work its way through its own storyline fit for Hollywood. In the last days, the nation will face great peril, in some ways like the danger it faces today from Iran and its terror proxies and has faced for so much of its history. But this evil will surpass anything the Jewish nation has ever encountered.
Sadly, the hearts of God’s Chosen People will remain far from Jesus the Messiah for a time. Rejecting the guiding hand of its Good Shepherd, Israel will turn to false shepherds, the worst of whom is the Antichrist. This satanic villain will make a covenant with the nation and deceive many into believing he is the true Messiah before leading a coalition of nations in their quest to destroy Israel. At this time, it will look as though the bad guys will win.
But in Israel’s darkest hour, the Lord will rescue His people with a mighty hand, providing physical deliverance and spiritual restoration. This dramatic victory will give way to the happiest ending of all: the establishment of God’s physical Kingdom, where He will reign from Jerusalem for 1,000 years, before reigning unopposed over all things for all eternity.
The prophet Zechariah captured all of these magnificent details in merely six chapters (9—14) of his book of prophecy. We’re happy to lay out the details of this amazing, soon-to-be-fulfilled story for you in this issue of Israel My Glory!
For all the calamity and suffering awaiting Israel, the nation has much to look forward to. Like the people of Gotham City or Metropolis, the Jewish people have a hero they can count on to save the day. And unlike Batman and Superman, He is fully real, fully trustworthy, and fully mighty to save from the fiercest enemies.
