Such As I Have
Mt. 19:27–30; Acts 3:1–8
Then answered Peter and said unto him, Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee. What shall we have, therefore? Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none, but such as I have, give I thee. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.
“What shall we have for what we give?”
An answer Peter sought.
Jesus’ word was fine and clear:
“You won’t serve God for nought.”
Now that was pre-betrayal,
And prior to Pentecost.
His values then not far removed
From others who were lost.
But after resurrection,
When he and John went up,
On Temple Mount they stood before
A beggar and his cup.
“Silver and gold have I none …
Such as I have, I give ”
The quickened lame man leaped away,
A whole new life to live.
“What shall we have?” … “Such as I have.”
Those few words say so much.
A life-style changed and world’s arranged
By the Holy Spirit’s touch.
